How challenging it is to give feedback which improves the situation! This reminder came during my recent work with a workplace conflict made much worse by unskilled feedback. What causes many of us to shy away from providing feedback to help ourselves and our co-workers to do better?
Who is Kathryn Munn?
KATHRYN MUNN, LL.B., Cert. ConRes., C. Med., C. Arb. is a mediator, facilitator, arbitrator and lawyer. She is recognized as a Chartered Mediator and Chartered Arbitrator by the ADR Institute of Canada. Since 1996 her firm Munn Conflict Resolution Services has focused on the prevention, management and resolution of conflict from a base in London, Ontario, Canada. For the Ontario Mandatory Mediation program Kathryn is a Roster Mediator -- Toronto / Ottawa / Windsor. She is a mediator for the Government of Canada's Farm Debt Mediation Service, and for other Canadian government departments.
Kathryn's usual mediation approach is facilitative and interest-based. She is a thorough, creative and persistent professional who varies her approach to fit each situation.
In addition to or separately from, mediation services, Kathryn provides training and facilitation services.
She has taught courses on conflict resolution topics through the University of Western Ontario, Fanshawe College, Lambton College as well as many companies and non-profit organizations.
When groups -- from workteams to boards of directors to non-profit groups -- need help with planning or conflict resolution, Kathryn provides facilitation services.
Her areas of mediation experience include employment, labour relations, lawsuits, personal injury, construction, corporate/organizational, victim/offender, insurance ombudservices, debtor/creditor, family issues including family business, and estates. She is actively involved in online mediation and arbitration services. Kathryn provides investigation services for workplace complaints such as harassment and human rights violations.
Before opening Munn Conflict Resolution Services, Kathryn had 16 years background in law practice in Ontario and was Executive Director of a legal clinic. Her areas of law practice included family, criminal, civil litigation and administrative law.
Kathryn completed a Certificate in Conflict Resolution at the Justice Institute of British Columbia and other specialized training in mediation, arbitration and facilitation.
